Alf Roberts,
Cross Country...... with a visit to see Pete Redfern at. He is one of our favourite solo performers and we know our group of lady friends at the Pasadena CMC in Llandudno were looking forward to seeing him again. A good selection of slower paced dance tunes were included early on but altogether Pete's choice was ideal for any audience. The doors had to be opened as we were in the middle of a heatwave but the graceful partner dances were good to watch and the floor was filled for the liveliest tunes from Pete. He told us that in his youth he was on holiday with his friends in Abersoch, thumbing a lift back to Liverpool from Swallow Falls in torrential rain. The memories of this prompted him to write a his song, The Rain Came Fallin' Down and we are delighted to hear that Pete has signed a 5 year contract with a major publishing company for this self penned number. Keep up the good work young man.

......Pete Redfern at Rockys Ranch, it is a brilliant club with a good sized dance floor and ideal for such an event. Pete put on a good show on the night with songs like Honky Tonk Man, Messed Up In Memphisand of cause the list goes on. I also learnt tonight that Pete's song that he wrote "the rain came fallin' down" was written about a visit to Wales when he visited the beauty spot Betws-y-Coed. Pete Now puts plenty of material into his show for the dancers. I have admired Pete's vocals and playing for many years and what a beautiful 12 string he guitar plays. It makes me want take up guitar playing when I see such an instrument......

I first met Pete many years ago in a duo called Pinto, since then he has appeared with Smith & Jones,Daytona and is well known for his solo work he was currently teamed up with Shane O'bourne in Louisville. He is a prolific song writer teaming up with Alan Crookes for 3 albums, now his latest song saw success on Hot Disc and is titled "the rain came fallin' down".....As usual a profesional presentation from Pete.

Grassmoor WMC had solo artist Pete Redfern from Birkenhead to entertain at their Friday Country music night. We have seen Pete quite a few times, both with a band and as a solo and his excellent choice of material. He covers the whole spectrum of Country music as well as including a few self penned numbers and I loved his latest song, The Rain Came Falling Down. The dancers certainly enjoyed his choice of material.

Our last last outing this month was for an exellent night in the company of Pete Redfern from Birkenhead. He is a long established Artiste, I remember seeing him with the trio Daytona. Pete is a brilliant gutarist and exellent singer who went through the night with a very good selection of material performed to perfection and with his "Plastic Scouser" humour, as he described it, he really won the over audience. Four encores left the audience asking for Pete to be brought back in the near future.

....for the first time at the club we had Pete Redfern who I had not seen since his time with the exellent band, Daytona, many years ago.
Pete has a great voice and is a brilliant guitar player. Both were evident on the night.
He performed a brilliant mix of old and new Country, well sung and played and he gave everyone a fantastic night, keeping the audience entertained from first to last.
I will be looking out for Pete in the area again.....

Making his debut at our club this evening, Pete Redfern gave us an excellent display of fine vocals and first class guitar playing. He has always harboured a love of Country Music and performed songs of this genre with various combos including the duos "Pinto" and "Smith and Jones" and the band "Daytona".Pete has also ventured into song writing with partner Allan Crookes and together they have released three CDs of self penned numbers. Tonight he was here in his current capacity of solo artiste and soon won over our members with his easy rapport and great exposition of his musical ability. The content of his show was an excellent mix of new and old Country including lots of songs new to us. Starting with the Lee Roy Parnell number "Crossing Over", he continued with Dwight Yoakam's "It Only Hurts Me When I Cry", one of his own compositions "Under The Moon", Steve Goodman's "City Of New Orleans", Tom Petty's "Walls", covered last year by Glen Campbell, Keith Urban's 2001 No. 1 hit "But For The Grace Of God" and several from the catalogue of one of my favourite singers, Dale Watson, "Ain't No Cow In Texas", Way Down Texas Way" and "Love At First Sight".The more familiar classic Country examples featured Cal Smith's "Drinking Champagne", Hank Williams's "Crazy Heart", Ray Price's "Heartaches By The Number", Johnny Horton's "Honky Tonk Man", Ray Charles's "Take These Chains From My Heart", Charley Pride's "Is Anybody Going To San Antone" and to bring this super show to an end, Ronnie Milsap's "I Wouldn't Have Missed It For The World"! Every song produced appreciative applause from the audience; so it will come as no surprise if Pete is asked to give another concert at The Black Horse.
